DAY 98. Life of Pi without VFX (40 Minutes) by *Cryptid-Creations
I’m a 3D Animation student (though I’m perusing a career in concept art; same deal here), so naturally, I’m pissed off about this mess.
There is a common misconception that we animators (or digital painters) who use computers put much less effort into their work. So much so, that the film industry has the audacity to strip visual effects persons of their ‘artist’ title and replace it with ‘technician’ —which really downplays just how vital their roles are in the film’s success.
Without VFX, you wouldn’t have Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Avatar, Life of Pi —etc. —These are visual feats that are otherwise impossible without a team of highly skilled individuals who work THEIR ASSES OFF trying to build that movie magic.
I can rant on for ages about this, but I’ve got homework to do. But if you’re a movie buff, an artist, or someone who just appreciates the effort put into this industry, it would be awesome for you to stand up for the movement by making your FB or twitter avatar green.
I’m missing out quite a lot of details on this, but you can find loads more at:
